Tour Overview

Just like coffee, Kenyan tea is among the countries major export earner, sustaining hundreds of families by creating employment opportunities to the locals.

Kiambethu teas farm is not an exception. The fam lies approximately a 45minutes drive from the city. The farm was bought by AB McDonell in 1910 who was a pioneer in growing and exporting tea commercially. The farm is currently run by his granddaughter. Tours have to be pre-booked and only take place from Thursdays to Sunday each week, between 11.00hrs to 14.00hrs.

Sample a cup of Kenyan tea or coffee on arrival followed by a brief lecture on the history of the farm and tea growing. Theafter a local guide will lead you through the indigenous forest to a tour of the farm. You are encouraged to ask yuour guide any questions in the course of the tour.

After the tour, lunch setting is on the farmhouse verandah from where you can enjoy a pre-lunch drink with a view of the sweeping tea fields and the Ngong Hills in the hoziron. A sumptuous 3 course lunch is served, with the fresh fruits and vegetables coming from the garden.

After lunch depart at leisure, drop of at your hotel or continue your tour of the other attractions. This tour can be conveniently arranged with a tour of the Coffee Farm.
