Tour Overview

A short private safari with visits to two of the Rift valleys’ popular lakes and the famous Masai Mara Reserve.. A one-hour Lake naivasha  boat trip and guided walk at Crescent Island Sanctuary gives  you an opportunity to view wildlife like hippo, giraffe, zebra, wildbeest, e.t.c at close range. Enjoy guided walks at Hells Gate national park amongst zebra, giraffe, impala and other plains animals with the highlight being a walk down to the gorges. Part of the film ’The Lion King’ was filmed here at Hell’s gate national reserve.  The scenic rift valley  ecosystem with endless savannah and hills is best viewed from the Rift valley viewpoint.  Mount Longonot and Mount Suswa are stand out features. Lake Nakuru national park is a sanctuary to both white & black rhino and the endangered Rothschild giraffe. Lake Nakuru is a bird lovers’ paradise with over 450 bird species recorded. Masai Mara reserve, the seventh wonder of the world is the safari highlight. During the months of June to October over two million wildebeests and zebra cross over from northern Serengeti national reserve in what is arguably the world’s great annual migration. This private safari can be arranged all year round and can be customized to individual needs.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1: Lake Naivasha

You will be net at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport OR at City hotel then depart by road for Lake Naivasha (approximately 1 ½ hours’ drive) with a brief stop at the Rift valley view point.  Enjoy a one-hour boat ride at Lake Naivasha followed by guided walk at Crescent Island sanctuary. Continue to your lodge for late lunch with the rest of the for afternoon at leisure.

Elsamere Lodge is a former home to undoubtedly Kenya’s pioneer conservationists, Joy Adamson the author of ‘Born Free’ and her husband George, from where they both hand raised their cheetah (Pippa) and Leopard (Penny). With a limit of only 20 guests your privacy is guaranteed, as well as excellent service.

Day 2: Lake Naivasha – Lake Nakuru

Breakfast at Elsamere Conservation Centre, check out at 07.30hrs and drive to Hells Gate national reserve for a guided walk (optional bike ride). Later drive to Lake Nakuru (approximately 1-hour drive) arriving in time for lunch. Lake Nakuru national park is a rhino sanctuary for both black and white rhinos.  You also have the chance to see the rare Rothschild Giraffe, many bird species including lesser flamingoes, pelicans, cormorants and fish eagle.

Day 3: Masai Mara

Early breakfast, depart at 07.30hrs by road and drive to Masai Mara Reserve (approximately 5 hours’ drive). Masai Mara is the ultimate safari destination. This endless savanna is home to large herds of elephant and buffalo, several lion prides and other big cats, plenty of birdlife. During the months of June to October, close to two million wildebeest and zebras move from Serengeti to Masai Mara in what is anonymously ‘the world’s greatest migration’ and the 7th wonder of the word. Lunch at camp followed by a late evening game drive, return to the camp for dinner.

Day 4: Masai Mara Reserve

An early morning balloon safari over the Mara (optional extra) or take an early morning game-drive followed by breakfast at the lodge. After lunch proceed on a late evening game-drive.

Day 5: Masai Mara Reserve

An early morning game-drive followed by breakfast at the lodge. After lunch proceed on a late afternoon game-drive. This day you may opt to visit a Masai cultural village (at extra cost).

Day 6: Depart, Masai Mara – Nairobi

Breakfast followed by a morning game drive en route towards Nairobi. Visit Karen Blixen Museum followed by lunch at Karen Blixen Coffee Garden & Cottages Restaurant. Later, transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your flight back home.
