This private adventure is designed for travelers who want to get a taste of African wildlife in two of East Africa’s safari countries. This safari promises to leave you with lifetime memories. Masai Mara national reserve, the seventh wonder of the world is a dream destination for anyone thinking about safari to Africa. During the months of June to October over two million wildebeests and zebra cross over from northern Serengeti national reserve in what is arguably the world’s great annual migration. A boat-ride at lake Naivasha gives you an opportunity to see animals such hippo, zebra at close range. While at Amboseli national park, marvel at the magnificent views of the imposing snowcapped Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain at 5892 meters above sea level. A chance to experience the famous tree climbing lions of Lake Manyara national park. Experience first- hand the large elephant herds at Tarangire and the huge Baobab trees, some with trunks reaching more than 100 feet in circumference. Wind up your trip with a stay at the rim of the biggest caldera in the world – Ngorongoro crater.

This safari can be arranged all-year round and the itinerary can be tailor-made to specific individual needs.. The dry months of June to October and short rains period of November to February are most ideal.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Masai Mara reserve.

Pick up from Nairobi hotel or international airport and drive to Masai Mara (approximately 4 hours’ drive). Short stop at the great Rift valley viewpoint with a chance to take photos of this breathtaking landscape. Continue to Narok, the last town before you head to the Mara wilderness – a time to do some shopping for personal effects or get some local currency. Arrive Masai Mara, Sekenani gate and continue with game drive on the way to your camp arriving for lunch.

Day 2: Masai Mara reserve.

An early morning balloon safari over the Mara (optional extra) or take an early morning game-drive followed by breakfast at the lodge. After lunch proceed on a late afternoon game-drive.

Day 3: Masai Mara reserve – Lake Naivasha.

Morning game drive followed by breakfast and check out. Drive to Lake Naivasha arriving at your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a one-hour boat ride at Lake Naivasha.

Day 4: Lake Naivasha – Amboseli national park.

Breakfast, check out and drive from Lake Naivasha to Amboseli national park (350 km – approximately 5 hours’ drive), arriving for check-in and late lunch. In the late evening, go for a game drive.

Day 5: Amboseli national park.

Breakfast followed by an early morning game drive with a visit to the ‘Observation hill’, the highest point within Amboseli at an elevation of 1150 meters above sea level. Enjoy panoramic views of the park. Return to the lodge for lunch. Afternoon at leisure. In the late evening, proceed for another game-drive.

Day 6: Amboseli national park – Arusha

Early breakfast, then depart by road at 07.30hrs, transfer to the Namanga border of Kenya and Tanzania border (approximately one hours’ drive). You will be met by your driver guide at Namanga Border and transfer to Mountain Village Serena lodge in Arusha. Overlanding to Arusha is one big opportunity for learning and discovery as there many fascinating things and activities taking place alongside the road. Lunch at the lodge with the rest of the afternoon resting and discovery around the lodge. You may decide to do optional Lake Duluti canoeing or forest nature walk or get yourself a drink at the bar as you wait for dinner.

Day 7: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, depart by road to Tarangire National Park, discover the changing landscape, environment and culture. Tarangire is characterized by shimmering acacia stands, old baobab trees, Masai herds and herds of elephant. You will have your packed lunch in one of the designated picnic sites and continue with afternoon game viewing in area. Tarangire river, from which the park gets its name is the main source of water and draws a lot of animals who come to drink water. It also draws a lot of predators, so if you are lucky, you may witness a live predator hunt scenario. You will drive to the lodge where you will have dinner and overnight just before dusk.

Day 8: Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast at the lodge, you will depart to Lake Manyara National Park, traversing the Great African Rift Valley that scars Africa from the Red Sea to Mozambique. The morning game drive allows you to explore the ground-water forest, rich in variety of bird species, primates and other wildlife. You will drive to the hot water spring, the hippo pool, and the alkaline Lake Manyara, swathed in pink of the resident flamingos bordered by the acacia woodlands. After a successful game viewing you will drive to the lodge for lunch, checkout and depart to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. On the way you will stop at local market in Karatu town, meet the local vendors, see and learn what they sell and how they do that, proceed to the Lodge located in the rim of Ngorongoro crater for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Ngorongoro Crater

Today you will wake up with splendid views of the crater. After breakfast you will descend the crater with picnic lunch for a full day game drive. This caldera, created by a collapsed volcano, is home to almost all of the major species of African mammals and features a remarkable cross-section of eco-systems, from soda lake to savannah. You will enjoy an exciting closeness to the game that is rarely seen elsewhere. Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, is one of the main features of the crater where large number of flamingos, hippos and other water birds are found. As dusk draws close, you will ascend the crater and drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Depart

After breakfast at the lodge, enjoy your last moments in Northern Tanzania as you drive back to Arusha. You will stop at Mto wa mbu for a local market visit, an opportunity to meet and interact with the locals, see and learn how they conduct their normal daily activities. You will get to Arusha good time for lunch and transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport to catch your flight back home.
