Discover the best of Uganda’s attractions with a little bit of adventure and wildlife on this 12-day safari.  Murchison Falls is named after the famous falls where the Victoria Nile rushes with tremendous force through a narrow, 6-meter rock gorge to crash onto the rocks 150 feet 45 meters below where one of the largest concentration of crocodile in the continent wait to feed on fish from the falls. Wildlife like the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe, Defassa waterbuck, oribi, hartebeest, Uganda kob and Patas monkey. Enjoy the 11-kilometer boat-ride to the base of the falls

This itinerary offers you the best chance to see and experience the many primates found in Uganda including gorillas, chimpanzees, black-and-white colobus monkey, red colobus, gray-cheeked mangabey and red-tailed monkey. A visit to Kibale forest national park lowland tropical rain forest, tropical deciduous forest, marshes, grasslands and crater is home to 13 different species, including 9 diurnal primates. Over 250 butterfly species and 350 bird species have been recorded.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Reserve has more than 300 gorillas – roughly half the world’s population. Other primates’ resident here include chimpanzee, black-and-white colobus monkey, red colobus monkey, gray-cheeked mangabey, L’Hoest’s monkey and blue monkey. Other animals found here include Elephant, giant forest hog and duiker and over 345 bird species. Queen Elizabeth national park is an excellent destination to find the big game i.e., elephants, leopard, buffalo, lion, leopard, giant forest hog, Uganda kob, topi and the shy sitatunga. Over 600 of Uganda’s 1067 recorded bird species are found here – one of the highest figures for any single protected area in the world. Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1: Wakiso District

Arrive at Entebbe international Airport where you will be met by our driver guide and transferred to the hotel for overnight.

Meals included: breakfast.

Day 2: Entebbe – Murchison Falls National Park.

Early breakfast, depart at 07:00hrs and drive via Kampala through the Ugandan remote villages towards Murchison Falls National Park (approximately 6 hours’ drive). You will transfer to the Ziwa White Rhino ranch and track the Rhinos on foot. Thereafter, proceed for lunch at Masindi hotel. Drive to Murchison’s National Park and proceed to check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight

Day 3: Murchison Falls National Park

Morning game drive in the northern bank of river Nile as you look out for the elephant, lion, Cape buffalo, Rothschild giraffe, hartebeest, Oribi, bushbuck, Bohor reedbuck, spotted hyena and if lucky you could even spot the leopard. We will be back in time to have breakfast and lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon take a boat cruise at 14.00 hours upstream to the “bottom of the falls”. The Nile here gets calm at the base of the falls, we stop a few meters from the “Devil’s Cauldron”, where it compresses 47 meters to squeeze through a 6-meter canyon dropping 40 meters with a thunderous roar.  En-route, marvel at the, hippos, crocodiles and over this 17 km stretch you may see elephants as well as a lot of bird species like Goliath heron, pelican bee– eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and the rare shoebill stork.

Day 4: Murchison Falls National Park – Kibale Forest reserve.

Early breakfast, carry picnic lunches and drive to Kibale Forest Reserve (approx. 5 – 6 hours’ drive) via Masindi/Hoima and Fort Portal, in a breathtaking landscape that forms the Albertine western Rift Valley. Your driver guide will make several stop overs to relax, and for sightseeing as you pass the verdant countryside, traditional homesteads and farms. Check in and relax for the rest of the evening

Day 5: Kibale Forest Reserve – Chimp trek + Bigodi swamp walk

After breakfast, you will enter the forest in search of the cheeky chimpanzees as well as other primates. Later go for a swamp walk in Bigodi. Return to the lodge for overnight

Day 6: Kibale Forest reserve – Queen Elizabeth national park.  

Depart after breakfast, drive via Kasese to Queen Elizabeth National Park 9approximately 3 hours’ drive), and check in at Mweya Safari lodge. Late afternoon game drives returning to the lodge before dusk for dinner.

Meals included: breakfast, lunch & dinner.

Day 7: Queen Elizabeth National Park

In the early morning go for a game drive in Kasenyi area, within Queen Elisabeth NP, on a look out for the lions, buffalos, elephants, and large numbers of Uganda Kobs and other antelopes. Drive back to the lodge for breakfast, and relax until lunch time. At 1400 hours, you will go for a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel (2 hours approx.), to look out for the hippos, crocodiles, great herds of buffaloes, and lots of water birds.

Day 8: Queen Elizabeth.

After breakfast, drive to Ishasha sector of the park (approximately 2 hours’ drive). Check in at Ishasha Wilderness camp for lunch. Late afternoon game drives returning before dusk, freshen-up ready for dinner.

Day 9: Queen Elizabeth national park –  Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Reserve.

After breakfast, you will depart for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (approximately 3 hours’ drive). Arrive at Mahogany Springs lodge for lunch. Rest of the afternoon at leisure.

Meals included: breakfast, lunch & dinner

Day 10: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Reserve – Gorilla trek.

Early breakfast then transfer to Bwindi National Park headquarters where you will meet up with excellent local guides/rangers and trackers, who will give a talk on the etiquette of gorilla trekking. Thereafter, hike into the forest with your packed lunch. Return to the lodge and free afternoon/evening to relax.

Day 11: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Reserve – Lake Mburo national park.

After breakfast, you will board your safari vehicle, drive through the beautiful scenery, the Kigezi Mountains – you will have stops along the way. You will have lunch at a local restaurant in Mbarara enroute to Lake Mburo National Park (approximately 5 hours’ drive). Check in at Mihingo Lodge, late afternoon game drive.

Meals included: breakfast, lunch & dinner.

Day 12: Lake Mburo –  Entebbe

You will have an early morning game drive, breakfast at the lodge and drive back to Entebbe with a brief stop at the Equator. Continue to the airport (approximately 4 hours’ drive) for your flight back home.
